Dry Only Vacuum Cleaners

Dry-only vacuums are the workhorses of commercial cleaning — no water tanks, no extra bulk, just reliable suction and filtration for dust, dirt, and fine debris day in day out. The range covers everything from compact lightweight models for cafés, retail stores, and small offices through to heavy-duty industrial units built for workshops, factories, and construction sites. We stock dry vacuums from Cleanstar, Delfin, and Tennant with HEPA filtration options available for environments where air quality matters. Fast dispatch across Australia — give us a call if you need help matching the right model to your application.

Choosing the Right Dry Vacuum for Your Cleaning Operation

Dry-only vacuums come in more formats than most people expect — canister, upright, backpack, cordless, wide-area, and industrial. The format that suits you comes down to how you're moving through the space, what you're picking up, and whether filtration standard is a compliance requirement or just a preference.

Canister Vacuums

The most common format in commercial cleaning. The motor and filter sit in the body unit, which rolls behind the operator while they work with a wand and floor tool. Cleanstar's AS4 Housemaid (10L) and AS5 (15L) are compact and practical for daily commercial use — hotels, offices, and retail environments where the machine gets moved between rooms constantly. The Butler Pro adds 1400W motor performance for heavier daily use. For HEPA filtration in a canister format, the Cleanstar Allergy Pro and Allergy Bagless are the options — suited to environments where fine dust and allergens need to be captured rather than recirculated.

Upright Vacuums

Purpose-built for carpet in commercial environments. The integrated brush roll agitates pile more effectively than a standard floor tool, making them the better choice for hotels, aged care facilities, and office buildings with significant carpeted area. The Columbus BS361 and BS461 are the main upright options in the range — both built for daily commercial use. The Truvox Battery Upright adds cordless operation for environments where trailing cords are a hazard or outlet access is limited.

Cordless Vacuums

No cord management, no outlet dependency — useful in environments where trailing cords are a trip hazard or where cleaning runs across areas without reliable outlet coverage. The Cleanstar GALAXY 2-in-1 is a compact entry-level cordless option. The SPRiNTUS ERA iGO is the premium option — a cordless canister with commercial-grade build quality suited to operators who need the freedom of cordless without compromising on suction or filtration.

Wide-Area Vacuums

For large open floor areas where a standard canister or upright would take too long to cover. The Tennant VWA76 and Truvox Wide Area 70cm Valet are both configured for high-productivity coverage — shopping centres, airports, large commercial facilities, and event venues. Wide-area vacuums cover significantly more square metres per hour than a standard machine, which is the point.

Industrial Dry Vacuums

A different category to commercial machines. The Delfin 301DS, MTL452DS, and 302 Torch are built for continuous duty in industrial environments — factories, manufacturing plants, construction sites, and anywhere regulated dust types (silica, welding fumes, fine metal particulates) require certified filtration. The 302 Torch is specifically configured for welding fume extraction. The Jetwave Cyclone Dust Extractor is another industrial-grade option suited to heavy construction and workshop dust loads. Running a commercial vacuum on an industrial application shortens machine life significantly — if the environment is industrial, the machine needs to match it.

M Class Filtration

The SPRiNTUS Craftix 35M carries M Class filtration certification — the European standard for capturing medium-hazard dusts including timber, gypsum, and some construction materials. Where WHS compliance or site safety specifications require M Class, the Craftix is the correct choice. Standard commercial HEPA vacuums do not meet M Class certification even if the filtration efficiency is similar.

Frequently Asked Questions — Dry Only Vacuum Cleaners

What is the difference between a dry vacuum and a wet and dry vacuum?

A dry-only vacuum is designed exclusively for dry material — dust, dirt, debris, and fine particulates. It will not pick up liquids and should never be used on wet surfaces, as moisture damages the motor and filtration media. A wet and dry vacuum has a sealed tank and float valve system that allows it to handle both liquid and dry material safely. If your application is purely dry cleaning in a standard commercial environment, a dry-only machine will typically deliver better filtration performance and longer service life than a wet and dry unit running in dry-only mode.

Do I need HEPA filtration in a commercial vacuum?

It depends on the environment. Standard commercial filtration is adequate for most offices, retail, and hospitality settings where dust is everyday dust. HEPA filtration — H13 or H14 — is worth specifying in healthcare and aged care environments, schools, allergy-sensitive spaces, and anywhere the air quality of an occupied space matters. H13 captures 99.95% of particles at 0.3 microns. H14 captures 99.995%. The Cleanstar Allergy Pro, Allergy Bagless, and AS4 Housemaid HEPA variant all carry HEPA filtration at accessible price points for standard commercial use.

What is M Class filtration and when do I need it?

M Class is a European filtration standard for vacuums handling medium-hazard dusts — timber dust, gypsum, calcium silicate, and similar construction materials. It's a WHS compliance requirement on some sites and in some industries. Standard commercial HEPA vacuums are not M Class certified even if they use HEPA media. If your site safety specifications or industry regulations require M Class, the SPRiNTUS Craftix 35M is the correct machine in our range. Give us a call to confirm the requirement before purchasing.

Bagged or bagless — which is better for commercial use?

Bagged vacuums contain the collected debris inside a sealed bag that's disposed of with minimal dust exposure on emptying — better for environments where fine dust recirculation is a concern, including healthcare and allergy-sensitive spaces. Bagless vacuums have no ongoing bag cost and are faster to empty, but emptying the canister releases fine dust back into the air. For most standard commercial cleaning applications either works well. For HEPA-sensitive environments, bagged is generally the cleaner option.

What brands of dry vacuum do you stock?

We stock Cleanstar, Columbus, SPRiNTUS, Tennant, Truvox, Surevac, Delfin, and Jetwave across the dry vacuum category. Cleanstar covers everyday commercial canister and HEPA options at accessible price points. Columbus and Truvox are European upright and wide-area specialists with strong hospitality and healthcare pedigree. SPRiNTUS brings German-engineered quality across canister and M Class formats. Tennant and Jetwave cover wide-area and industrial applications. Delfin is the industrial-grade choice for continuous duty and regulated dust environments.
