Frequently asked questions
How is the recommended selling price calculated?
We take your total job cost (labour + chemicals + travel/equipment) and work out the price needed to hit your target gross margin, using: price = total cost ÷ (1 − target margin). So if your job costs $100 and you want a 30% margin, the recommended price is $142.86.
What margin should I be aiming for?
Most commercial cleaning contracts run somewhere between 20% and 40% gross margin, depending on competition, contract size, and how much of the work you can standardise. Smaller, one-off jobs can often support a higher margin than large recurring contracts.
Does this include GST?
No — all figures are treated as GST-exclusive. Add GST separately when you issue your actual quote or invoice to a client.
Is my data saved or sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation happens in your browser only — nothing you enter here is stored, saved, or sent to us or anyone else.
Can this handle a full contract, not just one clean?
This first version is intentionally simple — one clean at a time, then multiplied out to weekly/monthly/annual value. A more advanced version with multi-site and multi-staff contract modelling is planned for the toolkit above.
